Yiwu International Trade City District 4: how pricing works

Soft-goods pricing is specification pricing. In District 4 the same sock, scarf or towel can carry several honest prices at once, and only a written specification tells you which one you are being given.

A price is a specification plus a quantity

In District 4 the specification does most of the pricing work: yarn content, weight, knit density, dyeing, printing and packaging. Two stalls quoting one sock fairly can differ because the socks differ, not because one is overcharging.

Quantity sets the tier. Ask what quantity each quoted price assumes before recording it, and get the specification written next to every number, in the same note.

Three quantity points per supplier

Ask every shortlisted supplier for unit prices at three quantity levels against one fixed specification. The gaps between tiers show where stock ends and production begins, and comparing the curves across suppliers is more informative than comparing single prices.

Re-confirm the tier at order time. Soft-goods stalls re-price when yarn costs move, and a quote from a sampling trip can be stale by the time you order.

Why the same towel carries two prices

Weight, yarn and finishing separate honest prices on identical-looking towels. The differences are felt in the hand, which is why photographs and chat quotes are poor tools on this floor and touch is the right instrument.

Packaging and printing also move the number: goods packed to a retail-ready standard cost more than the same goods in a bulk pack. Decide which you are buying before you compare.

Delivery terms and what they include

Fix the delivery term with the standard Incoterms 2020 vocabulary, and ask plainly whether the quoted price includes delivery to your consolidation warehouse. In a building of this size, internal delivery is a real cost worth naming.

For repeat business, agree the specification and the tier schedule once, in the purchase order, and reference the sealed sample. Our payment-terms guide covers how to structure payment against those documents.

Keeping the numbers honest

Keep one ledger of quotes: item, specification, quantity tier, unit price, delivery term, date and stall. Soft-goods ranges drift seasonally, so a dated note is worth more than a memory.

When a final price lands, attach it to the approved sample reference and confirm it in the purchase order rather than a message thread. The paper trail is what makes a floor price enforceable.

We do not publish verified per-stall pricing for District 4. Prices depend on specification, quantity and negotiation; re-check quotes at each quantity break.
